Congressman Rick Allen Visits Georgia Grown Innovation Center in Metter

Metter, Ga. - Congressman Rick Allen visited the Georgia Grown Innovation Center (GGIC) in Metter on Tuesday, October 21, 2020. His focus was to tour the new center and to talk with Georgia Southern University’s Business Innovation Group, business clients, and supporting organizations.


"We are excited that Congressman Rick Allen came to meet with our incubator clients and tour our new Georgia Grown Innovation Incubator in Metter," said Dominique Halaby, Director of the Business Innovation Group at Georgia Southern University. "His support and commitment to promoting a robust and vibrant agricultural economy will no doubt go a long way in promoting our region's prosperity."


GGIC’s business clients set up displays to showcase their businesses. Each had an opportunity to have a one and one conversation with Congressman Allen to discuss their plans. Businesses and organizations included: Yaupon Teahouse, Southern Soy Candle, Georgia Grown, EKC Pecans, The Green Toad, Metter Pecans, HD White Logistics, Small Business Development Center, and Better Fresh Farms.


"It was a privilege to visit the Innovation Incubator and see firsthand how the unique partnership between Georgia Southern University, Georgia Grown and the City of Metter is helping agribusinesses get off the ground. I know this year has been challenging for our small businesses, but I was impressed by all the businesses on display and I'm so proud that these innovators and entrepreneurs call Georgia's 12th District home,” stated Congressmen Rick Allen.


“Georgia Grown is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to host and introduce Congressman Rick Allen and his staff to the new Georgia Grown Innovation Center in Metter, Georgia,” said, Georgia Grown Business Analyst, Tom Neville. “Everyone in attendance was very encouraged by his enthusiasm to meet individually with each Center Client and his interest in learning about their businesses Congressman Allen's pure passion and support for Georgia Agriculture is key to the success of the mission at the Georgia Grown Innovation Center.”


“The City of Metter is thrilled to have this unique partnership. Businesses are seeing results with research and development through Georgia Southern University and Georgia Grown partners. We appreciate Congressman Rick Allen’s visit and his support of small business and agriculture in our community,” stated Mayor Ed Boyd.
